Roskilde Dyrskue

A very badly edited movie (… because it was done by me, on my phone on the train). Roskilde Dyrskue… Denmark’s equivalent of Great Eccleston show… complete with tractor pull!

Aksel’s yogurt portraits

Just an ordinary evening in the household… Aksel finishing off his ‘noonoo’ (yoghurt and oats) by drawing portraits of people he knows. Firstly naming them and then drawing glasses, hair etc. They’re a little abstract for many tastes perhaps and therefore a shoo-in for next year’s Turner Prize.

Nick and Michelle’s wedding

Thanks guys for a great time. First class all the way. Church was great… best wedding ‘manual’ I’ve ever seen. Food and evening simply spectacular.

Thanks also to Dad… for looking after Aksel for so long. He’s still going on about his ‘granja’.

A few photos from the weekend… (nothing from the wedding for some reason… perhaps drink related…).

Cold and children

It’s been below zero here for a month and a half now - snow piled up outside and its still snowing. At least that’s better than a normal Danish winter of drab grey skies for day after day.

Here’s some photos of the house and Aksel keeping warm inside.

Christmas and New Year 2009

After the fun of the COP15 disaster the rest of the world left Copenhagen pretty much for us over Christmas and New Year. br> Aksel spinning in the shops… And playing with the reindeer (plastic ones that is)…

Turning 40

Thanks to everyone who sent best wishes, cards, large and small presents, turned up for a surprise party, called 5 days after the event, or otherwise helped me out on the way to this old age.

Some photos from the surprise party…

Scotland and Aksel’s first birthday

We were in Scotland- the west coast, Kintyre for a few days and then over to Edinburgh for Aksel’s birthday and meeting up with his new cousin Ethan.

Trip to Norway - our ‘summer’ holiday

Ok pros and cons of a trip to Norway in July: Pros

  • Norway is powered by nature - it’s beautiful scenery whenever you go.
  • It is not very busy - we were the only people on one bus. Even the main road from Oslo to Bergen is a quiet narrow road with few cars on it.
  • Fruit being sold at road-side stalls is only bettered by the wild strawberries and raspberries on the mountains.
  • All the oil money has been spent on good roads and tunnels.
  • Lots of very friendly people helping you out and glad to have you visiting.
  • Sørlandschips
Cons
  • Norway is powered by nature - this basically means it rains all the time.
  • The words ‘Norwegian’ and ‘cuisine’ are used for the first time together in this sentence, any country that devotes 50% of the freezer space in a supermarket to frozen pizza is really struggling.
  • No oil money was spent on tourist information: the offices are staffed by disinterested and unhelpful student workers (one sold us a 50 year old map!) and the leaflets were generally incomprehensible.
Anyway enough grumpy old man stuff… here’s the photos…

Aksel about 9 and a half months…

Photos from the last few weeks and a visit from mum and Sandy.

Sunny and warm Edinburgh

Just got back from a surprisingly warm weekend in Edinburgh. Well over 20 degrees Friday to Monday and sunny all the time - the city really does look good like that. Thanks to Mum, Dad and everyone else.

Aksel - 8.5 months… a trip around town.

Went for a walk today (Ascension day is a holiday in Denmark); great weather and lots to see. Here’s the photos.

Aksel @ 7.5 months

Here’s the latest photos… really starting to enjoy himself this week. Lots of ‘creeping’ around the house (not true crawling). Plenty of shouting at inanimate objects (such as his parents). Eating lots of good mushy food and little bits of bread with butter.
